Privacy Policy

EevieTips is developed by Procipience. We take your privacy seriously and are straightforward about what data we collect and why. This policy covers both the EevieTips iOS app and the eevietips.com website.

No account required

You can use EevieTips without signing in or creating an account. In the iOS app your saved tips, bookmarks, reading history, vote history, and preferences are stored entirely on your device. On the website, equivalent preferences are stored in your browser's local storage.

App content

Tips, categories, and guide content are fetched from Apple's CloudKit service. This is read-only and involves no personal data.

Website browser storage

The website stores the following preferences in your browser's local storage. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings:

The website does not set cookies or include advertising trackers.

Anonymous analytics

We log anonymous usage events to help us understand how EevieTips is used — things like which tips you view and which features you use.

iOS app: If your iOS device is signed in to iCloud, events are written to CloudKit and tagged with a one-way hashed identifier derived from your iCloud account record. We cannot reverse this hash to identify you. Analytics are not collected if your device is not signed in to iCloud.

Website: We collect two streams of analytics on the website:

We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or behavioural-advertising trackers.

Tip submissions

If you choose to submit a tip, we collect your name (required), email address (optional), the tip text, and the categories you select. The iOS app additionally accepts image attachments. Submissions are stored as SubmittedTip records in Apple's CloudKit and reviewed by our team before publication. Your name and email are never displayed publicly and are not included in any published tip record.

To deter spam, web submissions include a hidden form field that automated bots typically fill in but humans do not — submissions where this field is non-empty are silently discarded. We also enforce a per-IP rate limit (one submission per two minutes, five per day). The IP address used for rate-limiting is stored only as a short-lived counter in our rate-limit service and is not retained beyond 24 hours. A one-way hash of your IP address is recorded with the submission to allow us to identify duplicates.

Donations

If you choose to support development through the "Buy me a coffee" link on the website, you will be redirected to a third-party payment processor. We do not see, receive, or store your payment details. The third party's privacy policy applies to the transaction.

Notifications

iOS daily reminder notifications are delivered via Apple's Push Notification service. To send the right notification at the right local time, the app registers your APNs device token, IANA timezone (e.g. America/New_York), and the app version with our CloudKit database. No personal identifiers are stored alongside the token. Tokens that fail to deliver are automatically deleted. The website does not send notifications.

Website hosting and server logs

The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel's infrastructure generates standard request logs containing your IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp. We retain these logs only for the period set by Vercel and use them solely to debug errors and detect abuse. Vercel's privacy policy: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

How data is stored

Server-side application data (analytics events, device tokens, and submitted tips) is stored in Apple's iCloud CloudKit infrastructure, which may include servers in the United States and other countries. Apple acts as our data processor. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Short-lived rate-limit counters keyed to a hashed IP address are stored in Upstash Redis. Counters expire automatically (within 24 hours) and contain no personal data beyond the hashed identifier. Upstash's privacy policy: upstash.com/static/trust/privacy.pdf.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or disclose it to any third party.

Your rights — EU / EEA (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict processing. Our legal basis for both analytics and tip submission data is legitimate interests (improving the app and processing community contributions).

To exercise your rights, email support@eevietips.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Your rights — California (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

Your rights — Canada (PIPEDA)

Canadian residents have the right to access their personal information and to request corrections. We collect information only for the purposes described in this policy and retain it only as long as necessary.

Data retention

Analytics events are retained to help us track app trends over time. Submitted tips are retained for review and, if approved, publication. Declined submissions are retained for a reasonable period before deletion. To request deletion of any personal data you have submitted, contact us at support@eevietips.com.
